You know it’s Valentine’s day when…
- You can’t make a reservation in any restaurant. Even if you walk in, you’re lucky if you can get a seat rightaway.
- There a shortage of flowers in the flower shops.
- You see flowers, balloons, chocolates, and candies everywhere.
- Singing telegram services are in peak season.
- Jewelry stores are extra busy.
- Hotels/motels are fully booked (at least in the Philippines where I grew up). I used to wonder what’s so special about valentine’s day that people choose to book rooms on that particular day, lol!
- Husbands rush to the store to buy their wives a valentine’s gift.
- Everyone takes off from work extra early.
- People are extra nice to each other.
- A lot of people are taking cash advance to fund their valentine’s day celebration.
Whatever it is you’re doing, Valentine’s day is always a day to look forward to. It is a day when we all want to show our love ones how we feel about them. Some people plan a weekend getaway, buy an expensive jewelry, or have fancy dinners. It is a day when some of us don’t mind being extravagant to celebrate it, even if it means taking a cash advance, which could be all worth it. To most, it’s all about making good Valentine’s memories.

I agree with most of those – especially the one about reservations at restaurants. Last Valentine’s Day was nearly a disaster for me, because I couldn’t get a reservation anywhere! I made a last-minute decision to cook a nice meal at home, and fortunately it worked out well in the end.
I would so love a piece of jewelry this year. And a foot rub. Both feet actually.
