Now that you’ve written your SMART goals and is on your way to achieving them, it’s extremely important to find and get support. Why? It’s very easy to lose track if you’re on your own.
Get your family on board, make them understand what you’re trying to accomplish and how important it is for you to get their support and understanding.
Find other people or groups with similar interests and join them. Many of these groups motivate and support each other. You can meet with them online and report your progress even on a daily basis.
Journal your progress. This will help you keep track where you are and how you’re doing. It will also help you decide whether you need to change course or continue to move on.
Celebrate your milestones with your family and support system.
I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to find your own support system in your journey. Transforming my family’s lifestyle into a healthy lifestyle wasn’t easy for me. I fought my way through the healthy eating – now we only buy organic and all-natural, we don’t buy soda at all. My kids have been trained to drink water throughout the day and ignore soda. They understand that they can eat chips and/or chocolates during the weekend if they choose to. They also KNOW that they are to stay away from junk foods on the weekdays. I have banned toxic cleaning chemicals from my house. I was successful with that aspect, except for the exercising and getting active part. It’s easy to slack off. Not until I found myself a support group who helped me be accountable to my goals. Now I’m working out regularly, the kids are into Figure Skating and are active as ever, my husband have started the “family walk”. All because I found the motivation and accountability to follow through.
You might think it’s hard to find a support group, finding online groups is as easy as ever. You can search at Twitter or facebook, there are tons of people forming groups to help and support each other. I have also started my own I’m A Hot Mom community here which is aimed for this particular purpose — to help moms network, connect, build relationships, be inspired, get empowered, achieve their goals, and reach their potential.
I hope you join me and the other young and fabulous moms here, all you have to do is just create an account, it’s free. Activate your membership from your email and you’re all set. I’m also giving away prizes for the members, so join us now and let’s help each other out achieve our goals!
The results of my and hubs’ annual physical exams came. Mine is normal, everything in line. Hubby has still high sugar count, ugh. During the exam, I asked the doctor how much weight should I lose, and he said I’m not overweight, and that I have a normal BMI of 26, so he just advised me to workout more to tone my body and continue with the healthy eating habits. It’s actually my husband that needs to lose weight because of his Type 2 Diabetes, but with his work schedule (he works at night), I find it so hard to drag him to a regular workout routine. We’re just watching what he’s eating and encourage him to walk around more when he’s awake.
My week actually started with me getting sick. We came home from our Hot Locks Dolls Party when I suddenly started having 102 temp. It’s weird because I never get sick without my kids or husband getting sick first. Anyway, I got better by Wednesday and I started getting back to my workout routine. I did Taebo, and EA Sports Active More Workouts. I also tried a 20 minute Zumba video workout that I found online. I had so much fun with it, that once I’m done with my EA Sports Active six week challenge, I’ll do more Zumba. And if I have Earth Footwear to go along with the dancing, it would be the perfect workout routine!
Now that my left shoulder is better, after three months of therapy, I also started following a resistance training routine I found from Self.com using light weights but more repetitions. It’s more focused towards my arms as I would like to see toned arms by June, hopefully.
Next week will more likely be just getting more into the groove of working out, as I’m trying to get back after being swamped with work for two weeks.

The clutter in both your environment and life/mind
Now that you’ve learned how to deal with both inner and outer blocks, let’s take step forward and create our SMART goals. Going back to our list of what we want, modify your statements to make it SMART:
Specific
What exactly are you going to DO to achieve it?
Precisely how many are you gonna get done?
How could you be more committed to this plan?
Measurable
How many?
How much time?
How many times a week, month, year?
Achievable
Reality check
Is it possible? If no, explore another option. If yes, make a committment to do this.
Reasonable
Another reality check
How reasonable is it that you will be able to do this?
Time-oriented
When exactly do you plan to achieve this by?
SMART goals convert our plans and dreams from vague to more specific and definitely helps in moving us forward. Keep in mind that what you want might not necessarily convert to one SMART goal. It might need to be broken down into several SMART goals that creates your big picture.
I have officially launched the I’m A Hot Mom Community hosted here in our very own domain. To kick it off, I’m giving away the following prizes to our active members!

Two weeks of no formal workout routine done. The busyness of life has gotten into me. Swamped with work from my fulltime job and work from my blog (the backend part) has forced me to get my butt stuck on my chair. The good news is, we, as a family, have managed to stay active. We’ve been enjoying the sun with our afternoon walks, with the kids either on roller blades, bike, or scooter. Our pug Zoe looked like she’s gonna faint from our walks each time, that I end up carrying her.
The kids have also been enjoying their weekly figure skating class, in fact, my eight year old has been promoted to Basic 2 on the first day of class. They are also thinking of bumping up my 5 year old to Basic 2 as well, since she appears to be too good for that class.
I intend to resume my formal workouts starting this week. Have also been absent from the social network that I completely miss my Mamavation sistas, but I’m slowly coming back online. Eating habits are the same inspite of the busyness of life. Consuming fruits and veggies as much as we can. Water consumption for all of us is also good, because there’s nothing else to drink here at home, lol!
I was so scared to step into the scale this morning because I know I’ve definitely gained. I’ve gained 0.5 lbs from not working out for two weeks. Oh well, I just gotta get my butt out of my chair and into working out again. We are travelling to the Philippines in June, and I BETTER LOOK GOOD that time or I’m staying here! LOL!
My 39th birthday was just awesome. I took the day off with the intention to sleep the whole day while the kids are in school. It didn’t happen, of course, but I was still able to take a decent 2 hour nap. Me and hubby both got our annual physical exams done first thing in the morning, yay! Aside from that, it was a quiet day and ended with dinner outside with the family.
I was off twitter and facebook for the whole day, but I’d like to thank you all for the greetings and postings on my facebook wall as well as overwhelming emails. Now that I’m on the subject of being grateful, I’m just thankful for another year of happy life with my very loving husband and kids (including our pug Zoe who just turned one on March 9), as well as supportive family and friends, and an awesome online family.
Thank you all so much for making my life very colorful and meaningful. Here’s to another year of happiness, health, and abundance. Cheers!
One of the main reasons a lot of people can’t get into their goals is because they just have gazillion things listed on their to do lists! Just like a physical clutter, a mental clutter consisting of your mental or physical to do lists, bothers you everytime you see or think about it.
There’s also what I call the people clutter. When your friends with people who take advantage of you and keeps on exploiting you for their own benefit, or people who just wants your constant attention to them, they are the poison pals you seriously need to consider breaking ties with. Can’t believe it’s already the 10th week since I joined Mamavation and started my weight loss journey. Anyway, this post is not just about me. I’m here to give an update on my family as well, since this is the fitness family series.
As you can see in the picture, my kids just started their figure skating class. They have been rollerblading around the house since January, from the time they get off school to bedtime. They don’t wanna use their slippers anymore, it’s all they wanna wear around the house. I don’t have hardwood floors so I just let them. It’s another way for them to stay active at home. Now, that they’ve been used to it already, they want to take it to another level, and begged that they try figure skating. Continue reading “Fitness Family 2010 – Week 10″
Did you know that? Yep. According to Realge.com, people who sit around too much have their enzymes that breaks down fat, practically turned off. But no worries, you can turn it back on again. How? Well, for one, stop being a couch potato! Their studies on animals show that cutting back on time spent moving around had a big impact on the enzymes that helps break down fat in the body, slashing it by 94 percent in LESS than one day’s worth of inactivity! So get high on the sugar and start fidgeting! Whoa! Hold it right there! I’m KIDDING about the sugar, so don’t you dare! Continue reading “Did You Know That Standing Up Makes You Lose Fat?”
