Smitha Prasad is a young mom and an entrepreneur from California. A good mix of talent and intelligence, she moved to the US after completing her MBA from India in 2002. She’s been painting from a very young age of 3, says she got that from her dad who is an artist himself and she is also a vivid sports person; a swimmer and a basketball player. She is happily married to her very supportive husband, Deepak Ramakumar who not only plays a major part in her life, but is also the IT back bone of her company, The Green Creation, Inc. They have 2 kids, a 3.5 year old son and a 2 year old
daughter.
Smitha is the founder and CEO of The Green Creation, Inc., a company that manufactures and sells the most cool and comfy Organic clothes for kids. Their clothes are made from 100% certified organic cotton and they engage in fair trade. Being a tree hugger herself, her company not only manufactures organic products, but also keeps the manufacturing process as green and natural as possible.
They have everything from baby onesies to tshirts, pants and also accessories like towels and blankets. Their material is super soft, for they feel that the children who wear them must be super comfy, when playing, stretching or even napping. Their clothes are also very affordable. They have a very generous wholesale program and also do retail sales on their website; www.TheGreenCreation.com
For Smitha, time has been a major challenge in balancing business and family life. She tries to push her limits to achieve as much as possible, but always feels that a day should have 30hrs. At the same time, she is very systematic and organizes everything in her electronic calendar, she’ll even have a menu on what she’ll cook everyday next week and what activities will entertain the kids next week. She divides her days into different business and work related tasks and religiously follows that every week. This she says has really helped her in balancing family and work lives.
Smitha tries to involve her kids in everything she does. This way, not only is she getting done with her tasks and taking care of herself, but her kids enjoy it too, learning at every moment. She believes that this has only made her kids smarter and her more efficient. She believes that everyone should enjoy their lives to the fullest, no matter what they’re doing. Her family and passion keeps her energized all the time.
She feels that it’s very important to take care of ourselves. She says that when we take care of ourselves, we can share it with the rest of the world. She takes the example of flight attendants always instructing the adults to wear their masks first before doing it on their kids when the air pressure is low. She is a strong believer that a person needs to be happy to share the happiness. She has her own formula to do this; a healthy lifestyle, family time and a big friends circle to socialize with.
Smitha believes that moms are very strong human beings, because they are built that way. She says that being a mom in itself makes them a winner, they can only add more zest to it by letting their inner passion take life. With this, they can conquer the world.
