Katie Kowalski is a wife and mother of a 2 1/2 yr old adorable little boy. She is expecting #2, another boy, mid-July. She is orginally from Virginia Beach but now calls Franklin, TN home.
Katie currently wears many hats. She juggles working full time as an Account Manager in Sales with a Telecom company. Part time she is building her fortune having partnered with the creators of Proactiv Solution. She is helping to launch a their new medicine based skincare line company and is building distribution centers across the country through a Direct Sales model. Katie is working on bringing this business opportunity online as a way to reach more women interested in taking control of their own financial success. She uses her sales background to help coach individuals starting their own business. She LOVES having the opportuntiy to empower women to run their own businesses, create their own futures and to learn how to dream again. Lastly-Katie is a fitness instructor and teaches a mommy baby fitness class. This is definitely one of her most favorite activities. She also loves the efficiency- having to be away from her son all day, she struggled finding a time to fit in exercise after Brodie was born. By teaching this class, she gets her workout in and still spends the time with Brodie-all along teaching him the importance of exercise and healthy living.
Katie has just started blogging and will tell you herself that it is a work in progress: http://katiekowalski.com/. Her topics at this point are around starting a networking marketing company. She has also set up a Facebook Fan Page http://www.facebook.com/kkrodanfields.
Katie says her biggest challenge right now is finding enough hour in the day-(-who doesn’t have this challenge??) It’s becoming a little tougher since her body is requiring a little more sleep these days. In an ideal world, the fridge would be stocked, meals planned and laundry would be washed, dried, folded and put away ALL in the same day! Putting aside what doesn’t really matter has become the survival strategy-Learning to be okay with furballs under the couch and a few dirty dishes in the sink could sum up the last couple years!
Katie enjoys those quiet moments especially in the morning when Brodie comes to cuddle in bed and does her best to be present- pushing her “to do” list out of her mind and giving to Brodie completely. The evenings are for her husband and they both enjoy hanging on the back deck, cooking out, catching up. Katie’s husband travels often, so she makes use of the time he is away to work on her home based job. This way when he is home, its playtime.
Katie believes that all moms need to first trust themselves and encourages moms to be in control. Being a mom to a young child can be daunting but at the end of the day-no one knows your child the way you do. Her philosophy is that if something isn’t working-change it. Don’t ever wait for someone to change it for you.

Katie,
Great post! You really touched on an important subject…juggling all of our different roles as mothers and business owners AND the need to create focused quality time for our family. After all, that’s what is most important! Thanks for this & here’s to your success!
Take care,
Becca

I think you are right about trusting your inner voice. When my children were born, attachment parenting was barely heard of. I would always go to my baby when she cried. Everyone around me told me that I was spoiling her and that she was manipulating me. And she would be difficult as she got older.
Well, I trusted my intuition. That if my baby was crying, she needed something. And maybe she just wanted me.
Needless to say, she is not manipulative or spoiled at all. Far from it. She is a secure, level headed teenager.
But I think it’s very hard for some women to trust their intuition. I think leading by example is the best way to help other women.
Thanks Katie for being a great role model!

Becca- thanks so much for your comment. Its so important that we remember WHY we take on the challenge of starting our own business. My reason why is so that I CAN have the flexibility to have my family come first as well as know that financially we are secure.
Debbie- Being a new mom, it can get a little frustrating with everyone offering their advice- I think its so important to follow your gut. The research is now showing that attachment parenting results in more self sufficient children and adults. I think its impossible to spoil an infant by responding to their cries. Good for you for listening to you gut, even when it wasn’t the most popular thing to do!
I love reading about you being a ‘hot mom’!! I think Cherrie had the greatest idea sharing all of this! My favorite decade was when my children were born and through the preschool years! They’re about all grown and I’m like you there is still not enough time in the day!!
