It's not right that families should go bankrupt trying to pay for procedures and treatment for chronic illnesses. Everyone is paranoid that their taxes will jump, but currently the US spends far more of their GDP on healthcare than other G8 nations do. When people without insurance get sick enough to have to visit the emergency room, it costs far more to treat them than a visit to the doctor's office would. Not to mention US wages are depressed because employers have to spend so much on insuring their employees. Sorry for ranting, but this is a topic I'm very passionate about.
