I woke up Monday morning with my lower left hip terribly painful everytime I moved. Have decided to not procrastinate about it and go immediately to my chiropractor. Apparently, I still multi-task even in my sleep that I sprained my left hip sleeping! I’m all better now after having to be treated three times this week. Looking back, I’m thinking it’s probably time to go back anyway, since I’ve been feeling backaches frequently these past few months.
I first got introduced to my chiropractor three years ago when I had a severe case of stiff neck and back. To my surprise, I found out I was so dis-aligned that one of my leg is longer than the other without even feeling it! My husband saw it himself how uneven my legs were. Having a stiff neck and back was just a manifestation of what was really going on in my system. Not only was I dis-aligned that time, my shoulders were so tight due to stress that have accumulated there over the years!
Over the course of two years, I have committed spending two hours of my mom time each week to have my mom care in my chiropractor’s clinic and get “fixed”. Each mom time I spent there was all worth it. I have learned a lot of things that moms like us just ignore because we simply have other more important things to do. The most important thing I’ve learned over there is to listen to our body.
Our body communicates with us through symptoms like headaches, migraines, pain, stiffness, allergies, etc. It is important that we listen to our body and not just cover up the symptoms with the use of medicines. Covering it up will just make our body develop another symptom telling us there is still an underlying problem or imbalance somewhere. Don’t get me wrong. I still use medicine when it’s really emergency. I just prefer to be proactive and go the preventive route.
I had to learn this the hard way, when I can no longer function at my 100%. I cannot afford NOT to function at my 100% because my kids, my husband, my work, my business, all depends on me being “functional”. So in order for me to be available to my love ones, to the things that are important to me, and enjoy doing what I’m doing, it is critical that I commit to spend some mom time for mom care. Period. No more “I have no time”, or “I’m so busy” excuses.
Taking care of myself needs to be a top priority if I want to be the best mom and wife to my family. With that, I intend to be able to stay long enough in this world to enjoy life with them, and hopefully, inspire my kids to take care of themselves as well, so they can impart the same message to their own kids too…

This is so true. We really do need to take care of ourselves first in order to be a good mom and wife and all the other titles we have for ourselves. I keep trying to tell my husband he needs to do this too, but some men just think differently.
Anyway, thanks for this. PS I am following you thru email subscription via MBC. Thanks. I look forward to reading your posts.

Great Article. I got sick a couple of weeks ago and never made the time to go to the doctor. I ended up getting really sick, if I would have just made the time to begin with I would have taken care of it to begin with. Thanks for the great read.

I found chiropractic care absolutely essential during my pregnancy. Unfortunately, it’s been much harder to find time to go after the baby arrived.
