This week I got a new toy to play with. My new EA Sports Active More Workouts arrived just in time for review. I got done with the 30-day challenge (from EA Sports Active Trainer) last week so I transitioned over to the More Workouts and started the six week challenge. Wow, it’s really “more workouts!” I love it.
I love the fact that it now has stretches in the beginning and end of the workout sessions (warm up and cool down). It also has abs incorporated with each session, and man, oh man, my abs were sore! The obstacle course, which is also a new thing in the More Workouts is so fun. The run with sprints are exhausting! I’ve been doing the high intensity on the 30-day challenge so I set it on the same high intensity level here on the More Workouts. One thing I noticed, though is that you have to set the frequency of your workouts now here, unlike in the active trainer. And now you have to have 3 rest days whereas in the active trainer, you only get 2 rest days. I think I like the 2 rest days, though, I don’t know if it would let you workout more often. So that’s gonna be my goal next week, to find out if I could workout more often and not follow the 3 rest days it required me to set.
Last week, I mentioned that I’d be adding cardio during my rest days to add more cardio to my routine. Well, it didn’t happen, not because I’ve been lazy but because I was ordered to slow down and go easy on my workouts. My MIR results showed that I had a small tear on one of my shoulder muscles. Dr. advised that I go for aggressive therapy instead of surgery, which is better news than I expected. But I was also ordered not to put any strain on those shoulders – which means no bands and weights for me on my workouts. So I’ve been complying faithfully, but really, I feel so incomplete with my workouts right now. So incomplete that I cheated yesterday and used the EA Sports band. My husband would kill me if he saw me but I just have to have some resistance, and I felt better. So now, I’d hold off adding more and get busy healing that shoulder so I could get back to my full blown workout routine.
Diet wise, been eating more veggies with my family. Me and the kids love the Filipino dishes that incorporated veggies and meat in one dish. We’ve been eating more bok choy, green beans, carrots, peas and spinach this week. We ate out on Friday night at Todai, and I pig’d out on steamed jumbo shrimps, bok choy, and discovered the seaweed salad, OMG the seaweed salad is to die for. Anyone who has the recipe, please let me know. Water intake is not a problem with our family. Since there’s nothing else to drink here at home but water (I don’t buy soda), my kids have pretty much been trained to drink water all throughout the day. I have pretty much consumed the 64 oz water by noon everyday, I even drink water in the middle of the night.
I have also started using the EA Sports Active More Workouts journal. It was available in the Active Trainer but I just started using it yesterday. It’s actually cool, it doesn’t require you to note all the foods you ate for the day but actually how many servings of fruits, vegetables, even junk foods, water, sleep, rest/relaxation, and activities you had for the day. I’ll start including the weekly charts next week.
So the goal for now is just to continue with my EA Sports Active More Workouts six week challenge, and focus on healing my shoulders.
I’d like to thank the Mamavation moms for continuing to support my fitness journey. You have all been so inspirational.

Woo girl, you’re kicking boot-ay! You talking about the EA more workouts with the abdominal workouts, I could really use too. So can’t wait to get my EA lol. I think it’s great you have your kids drinking water constantly. Mine make me feel like the ‘wicked witch of the west’ when I have em drink water instead of kool-aid, tea and soda. You’re doing great in the food department too. So proud of ya!

Wow you have it going on girl. I haven’t even cracked open my EA Active yet but I want the more workouts now! LOL I should do the 30 day challenge. Myabe I will tonight. You have inspired me! Keep it up.
I LUUURVE seaweed salad (but for some dumb reason have never tried to make it at home). I see a rated recipe on epicurious but it includes apple, wth? If I try a salad at home I like I’ll let you know the recipe. I am really sorry about the MRI results but very happy that your medical team is going to try the rehab route vs. going under the knife or laser. Keep being pragmatic and stick with your rehab plans, you’ll be better in no time.

I’m sorry you’re hurt! It sucks to try to work through an injury like that, but it sounds like you’re doing a decent job. Just remember that if you push it too hard it will take longer to heal.
Good luck next week!
I really have been wanting to get the more exercises i’m glad to hear that there are more stretches. keep up the good work this week.

Go Cherrie! You’re an amazing inspiration. I love the journal in the Active Trainer. It helps me see where I may need to improve (more sleep & more veggies!). I need to reach some more milestones & then I hope to get the More Workouts also. I’ve heard great things.
I’m so impressed with all your veggie consumption! I need to experiment more and play with all that there is out there!
